When coming to art class, please try not to wear your favorite clothes. Kids find ways to get paint, clay, etc everywhere…

Note the start times of classes. We’ve had to get a little creative with our scheduling to fit everything in ;)

Pottery - students will learn hand building techniques as well as experiment with the pottery wheel. Students can expect to bring at least one finished, glazed piece home at the end of the 4 week session. It will probably be necessary for families to return after the last session to get pieces that were in the process of being fired when class ended

Painting Projects - Each week students create paintings inspired by the works of well known artists from various eras. Students will experiment with new ways to apply paint and new ideas about what to paint.

Mixed Media - this class will bring various disciplines together - fiber arts and painting, drawing and decoupage, collage and sculpture. Students will learn about the wide range of possibilities in expressing their ideas, and the technical challenges and benefits of mixing mediums.

Friday Night Art Party - This session is all about fun. The teacher will plan a specific project per week. The projects are sensory and interactive(think Slime, Sock Puppets, dribble painting…) - no detailed drawings or new art vocabulary here. It’s Friday night, time to create & play a bit.

Sometimes class projects extend more than one week - the teachers will let parents know when this is the case.
