Summer VACATION CLASSES

A Summer of Fun! Our summer vacation classes are currently for elementary schoolers ages 5.5 to 11.

We encourage you to sign up soon as spaces are already filling up fast.

Our weeklong programs offer children and teens positive creative experiences that build confidence through hands-on learning. Students have fun using their imagination, experience community and develop leadership skills through hands-on projects.In addition to our after school classes, we are offering vacation classes for elementary school age children during and April vacation and summer vacation. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL INFO

  • When: Weeklong sessions run Monday-Friday

    Time: 9-12 p.m.

    Cost: $175.00 Classes will be at the YMCA, 67 Middle Street, Gloucester

    Afternoon Arts and Crafts

    This is purchased as an extended day. Students who have attended in the morning and stay for Afternoon Arts can pack a lunch and stay right through until 3:00 p.m. This is a time for students to work on any art project they like, with a teacher there to help. Many days we go for a walking field trip to play games outside as well. Spend the afternoon with friends making art, crafts and having fun!

  • Open-ended thinking teaches children about the design process with its wide range of unique solutions. Learning how to draw, paint and build are all empowering and exciting experiences that have a positive life-long impact on kids. We enrich our programs, bringing art history, local & popular culture, and even science and into the studio as well. Nurturing the natural curiosity that kids have about the world while making art creates a well rounded, impactful experience.

  • The 2021 summer series is led by Ava Sheedy and Hanna Stebbins.

    Ava is graduating from Gloucester High School in June, and will be attending Wheaton College in Norton Ma this fall. She currently teaches three of our weekly classes, and is well known by all of our students. Ava has been an alum of Art haven since 2016, when she attended our classes as a student. Ava is adept at a wide range of crafts and sculpture, is an avid collector of plants, and an expert videographer.

    Hanna is graduating this June with a BA/Visual Arts from Bennington College. Hannah has been leading our summer programs since 2017, and began her Art haven career in 2015 when she participated in the Teen Artist’s Guild. Her “Art Haven Archival Knowlege” is impressive to say the least. Hanna is a highly skilled printmaker and silk screen artist and is adept at up-cycling apparel.

  • We are located downtown at the East End of Gloucester’s busy Main Street.. Our studio is a bright, open and designed to be a flexible, mulit use space. Our teacher-student ratios are generally 6-1, which allows us to give each student individual attention, and keep everyone engaged. We are a nut free facility.

PROGRAMS for GRades 6-8

  • Our weeklong programs offer middle schoolers positive creative experiences that build confidence through hands-on learning. Our class curriculum is designed specifically for this age group, allowing for the interaction and influence of popular culture that middle schoolers crave. We are offer a place to relax, learn something, play, and hang out with other creative kids.

    When: Week-long Sessions runs Monday-Friday

    Time: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

    Cost: $175.00

  • Our Teachers Lydia Giangregario and Grant Harlow are our Middle School instructors.

    Lydia will be graduating from with an BFA in Studio Art from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst . She has led our summer programs since 2017, and began her career at Art Haven in 2013 as a student. Lydia is a talented textile artist, as well as plein air painter and comic artist.

    Grant has a BFA from Bennington College and has been an Art Haven alum since 2019. He led our 2020 summer program ,and we are very excited to have him back. Grant is an expert at up-cycled fashion, has his own product line, and is adept at various art forms.

  • We are located in downtown Gloucester close to fantastic resources like the Cape Ann Museum. Our newly renovated studio is a bright cheerful place where students are encouraged to be independent learners so that they feel empowered and feel ownership of the space. Teacher-student ratios are generally 6-1 so that children can have the best experience possible. We are a nut free facility.
